Founded in 1932 by the Piedmont Section of the National Institute of Urban Planning, the magazine is characterized as a privileged partner in the international debate: with the aim of promoting and spreading the urban studies has now acquired a distinctive reputation among the magazines. From the postwar recovery of publications in 1949, following its own cultural program, it took on the characteristics that distinguish it nowadays, broadly and critically documenting planning activities in Italy and abroad, so becoming a sort of " implicit user manual ". With the aim to eliminate the risk of dispersion of accumulated theoretical and technical knowledge and instead promote the sedimentation and selection of acquired cultural heritage. While adhering to the constantly changing and developing needs of Italian Urban Planning activities, has helped to express the freedom of research and constructive INU ambition.
