«A study on anthropogenic groundwater pollution». The Authors report the results of the preliminary phase of a study on the vulnerability of groundwater North-East of Naples, named «Lufrano», due to natural and anthropogenic risk factors of pollution. In the first step, data on anthropogenic risk factors were collected, concerning the area including 15 Communes, with a high population density. At the same time, the evaluation of real health status of the groundwater was carried out, collecting water samples from wells already in use. First results, concerning an area of 6 kmq, with a density of about 10.000 inhabitants kmq2, showed: 1) the presence of about 400 industries, 5% of which provided of treatment wastewater plant; 2) few agricultural and zootechnic activities; 3) a large amount of rural sewers (19% of which vanishing in the soil); 4) few and incomplete data about production and treatment of urban and toxic wastes. Finally 120 wells were counted. Chemical and microbiological analysis of water samples taken from the welles showed concentrations of nitrites and coliform organisms above guideline values in 57% of examined samples; in 42% of samples the analysis revealed the presence of Cr (VI) and organochlorine compounds while occasionally cadmium and triazine herbicide were found.
