The AA. carried out a research on the evaluation of Halothane and Enflurane in Naples, 2nd University Hospital operating rooms. Halo¬thane sampled in air inhaled by anesthesists ranged from 4.1 ppm to 300.2 ppm; by surgeons from 1.3 ppm to 36.6 ppm, while in ambient air it varded from 1.0 ppm to 12.2 ppm. Enflurane concentrations in the same sampling points ranged from 10.0 ppm to 93.4 ppm; from 2.1 ppm to 24.4 ppm and from 1.1 ppm to 13.8 ppm. The obtained amounts are completely above the existang limits and indicate the need of legislative and technical measures in order to prevent and reduce professional risks of halogenated anesthetics exposure.
