Bois Noir (BN) and Flavescence Dorée (FD) are grapevine yellows able to induce severe losses on grapevine in Italy. BN and its vector, Hyalesthes obsoletus, are widely spread in Marche region, while FD, transmitted by Scaphoideus titanus, was found in 2 vineyards, in absence of its vector. Investigations were carried out to identify phytoplasmas associated with vectors and potential vectors of grapevine yellows found in vineyard ecosystems of the region. Total DNA from adults of H. obsoletus, Anaceratagallia laevis, A. ribauti, Euscelis lineolatus, Laodelphax striatellus, Neoaliturus fenestratus, and Psammotettix alienus, was extracted and analysed by PCR and RFLP. “Candidatus Phytoplasma solani”, causal agent of BN, was found in H. obsoletus and N. fenestratus. Clover phyllody phytoplasma, belonging to the 16Sr-IC subgroup, was found in E. lineolatus, in almost all insects associated with “Candidatus Phytoplasma solani”.
