The authors present a survey of interaction mechanisms among spatial solitons at different wavelengths. It is shown that such mechanisms offer fascinating perspectives for realizing all-optical switches and routers. The main interest for these components is in WDM networks, that represent one of the most practicable way to utilize the huge bandwidth offered by fiber optics. Numerical examples are given, as the result of efficient simulations, that provide useful guidelines for design of the proposed components.

Abstract
The authors present a survey of interaction mechanisms among spatial solitons at different wavelengths. It is shown that such mechanisms offer fascinating perspectives for realizing all-optical switches and routers. The main interest for these components is in WDM networks, that represent one of the most practicable way to utilize the huge bandwidth offered by fiber optics. Numerical examples are given, as the result of efficient simulations, that provide useful guidelines for design of the proposed components.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
