This work analyzes how digital technologies (or ICT) have strongly influenced in a negative way the healthy development of minors and how, despite this, they have been introduced into school programs, starting from primary education, assuming that their use would have been positive for children of this age. It is observed that, instead, some European countries have backtracked on the use of ICT and that in Waldorf schools, where these technologies are not used, a pedagogy aimed at respecting the evolutionary stages of children is adopted. It is concluded that the available evidence strongly advises against the anticipation of the use of ICT in children, even in the school environment, as it is antagonistic to the development of basic skills. Finally, the work launches a regulatory message that suggests a general rethinking of the current uncritical public promotion of digital media in Western society, re-founding it on scientific evidence.
