This paperpresentsastrategyfortheapplicationofacousticbeamformingtolocate noise sourcesinareverberantfield. In thehypothesisofstationaryphenomena,theaverageamplitudeandstandard deviationoftheoutputofbeamforming,obtainedfromdifferentarraylocations,are calculated. The standarddeviation,normalizedbythemaximumvalue,canbeusedfor beamformingoutputweighting,soastoenhancethesourcecontribution,whichis spaceinvariant,andtoattenuatethemirrorsandsidelobepeaks,whosespatialposition changeswithchangesinarrayposition. The availabilityofmicrophonesignalsacquiredwhenmovingthearraytoadifferent positionalsoallowsasuper-arraytobeobtained,i.e.anarrayobtainedconsideringall thedataascomingfromauniquearray.Inthisway,thecapabilityoftheaveraging proceduretorejectmirrorseffectsanddisturbancesiscombinedwithhighresolution beamformingforapplicationinreverberantfields.Theseimprovementsareextendedto theentirefrequencyrange,sincetheprocedureisnotgreatlyaffectedbysignal wavelength.
