Earthworks are a civil engineering process aimed at creating earth-structures by changing the geometry of the earth surface for construction or other activities. Application fields of earthworks are associated with: - transport infrastructures - platforms for industrial, commercial and residential buildings - flood defense and coastal protection works - harbors and airport areas - embankments for land reclamation - onshore embankments made of hydraulically placed fill - backfilling of open mines and quarries - tailings dams. This standard is applicable almost to all types of earth-structures, except some structures, such as dykes and dams which have to follow specific design and construction requirements. In this article only the Part 1 of the six available parts of the European Standard for earthworks is briefly described.

Abstract
In this article only the Part 1 of the six available parts of the European Standard for earthworks is briefly described.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
