In this letter, an analytical model to calculate the global stray capacitance of a coil, and consequently the mutual capacitance among turns, is presented. The model is based on the charge distribution induced on each winding when a voltage generator feeds the coil, calculating the voltage distribution along the coil. Experimental measurements validate the proposed model and point out some critical aspects of the indirect measurement of the stray capacitance.
