The recent rules updating the essential levels of assistance (LEA) of the healthcare system bring attention on the mechanisms and decision-making actions that affect the effectiveness of the right to health. Through a chronological review of the entire regulatory system on waiting lists and the analysis of some problems generated by its lack of implementation, in these pages we intend to highlight how the new mechanisms of definition of the LEA can contribute to the government of waiting lists and therefore, more generally, to the effectiveness of the right to health.
