Abstract

In order to reduce energy consumption in buildings, more isolated and sealed structures are designed. The resulting poor air changing decreases indoor air quality in terms of not adequate levels of indoor humidity and high concentration of pollutants. Reactive building materials offer an opportunity to provide indoor air cleaning with minimal energy use. This research focuses on the development of innovative and multifunctional mortar for indoor panels with low environmental impact able to improve comfort and health of occupants. This material exploits the positive interaction between different constituents usually used separately (e.i. wool insulating panels or lime-zeolite mortars).
