Niccolò da Reggio e l'Articella: nuova attribuzione della traduzione del Regimen acutorum (Vat. lat. 2369)

The article attributes a Latin translation of Hippocrates’ Regimen acutorum to Niccolò da Reggio, a translator from Greek who was active in Naples, at the Angevin court of Charles II and Robert I, in the first half of the fourteenth century. This translation is preserved anonymously in only one manuscript, the Vat. lat. 2369 of the end of the fourteenth century, which contains an Articella collection with some translations from Greek, such as Galen’s commentary on Aphorisms translated by Burgundio da Pisa and Niccolò. The translation of the Regimen acutorum displays Niccolò’s style and is based on a manuscript of Galen’s commentary. Niccolò was indeed especially a translator of Galen’s works. The stylistic analysis also shows that this translation was done by Niccolò after the translations of Galen’s commentaries on Aphorisms (before 1314) and Prognosticon and before that of Galen’s De usu partium.
