Vitruvius’s Basilica has always been a subject of great interest among academics and archaeologists and it has been investigated by the engineering department of Marche Polytechnic University of Ancona, in partnership with Centro Studi Vitruviani for many years now. Even though the discussion about the text interpretation went on for a long time during the centuries, mainly concerning the shape of the building, on the other hand our interest, due to the technological progress of the last decades, is focused on static and structural features of the only building that Vitruvius drew and built. Thus it was possible to reproduce structural and lighting simulation on a virtual model, following the path of experimental archaeology. In an interdisciplinary perspective and by critically going through the Basilica historiography, this work suggests new reflections about the possibilities that shape, structure and building techniques could finally arrange, unfolding new theories regarding the lacking of findings and the possible demise of the building
