The paper presents some simulated and measured results concerning the electromagnetic field caused by an ultra wide band (UWB) source located inside a spacecraft module. The UWB signal is intentionally radiated for non-contact detection of human vital signals. The main goal of the work is to address the EMI problems caused by such a radiated field into the spacecraft equipment during the design stage of detection system. This allows the optimization of power level, waveforms and radiating antenna properties. Results given by simulations are experimentally validated showing good agreement.
