Entrepreneurship and immigration: Italian case and regional models (1990s-2000s)

This essay intends to single out and interpret the features which characterise immigrant entrepreneurship in Italy, through reflections founded on a solid quantitative base. The first step therefore consists of a careful revision of the available data, which are critically examined and assembled in a homogeneous way, separating migration typologies of a different nature. The information gathered will then be subjected to a systematic and detailed analysis, which allows us to describe the national situation though also to single out the development of the various regional models and their meaning. In the end, the attention reserved to the country of origin of immigrant entrepreneurs represents a further confirmation of the will to investigate in detail a complex and many-sided phenomenon, which does not lend itself to easy generalisations
