These surveys could be useful in the case of reconstruction and where there is a lack of suitable alternative forms of metric and virtual representation. A database of the available material has been built up to organize historic information, localization, and state of the monuments. Finally, part of the available dataset has been exploited for the development of a Mixed Reality based application. The underpinning idea is to bring such monuments to life again, by enabling the user to interact with them in the real environment.

Abstract

All Syrian World Heritage properties were inscribed on the UNESCO List of World Heritage in Danger in the 37th session of the World Heritage Committee. Professor Fangi has visited all the world heritage sites, first in 2010, just before the war, and in 2018, after the war. He carried out a rapid documentation in form of photos of monuments belonging to the Syrian cultural heritage. The aim was to obtain a photographic report, as fast and complete as pos-sible.
