In this mosaic of opportunities, a ‘holistic’ vision of a productive landscape is created, which is aimed at overcoming the dichotomy between agricultural production and environmental protection. In this sense, the intergovernmental scientific programme lauched by the UNESCO MAB (Man and the Biosphere) that includes the Biosphere reserves certainly represents a driving force for the relaunch of ‘this piece of history’ of the landscape that is intended as a product of the interaction between man and Nature. Indeed, the possible inclusion within the biosphere system of the delta of the Po River is already officially recognized by the UNESCO programme. This would lead to mutual enrichment of the two realities and to a unity of purpose, as the promotion of scientific cooperation activities, interdisciplinary research, and environmental sustainability, with the full involvement of the local communities. For sustainable development, this needs to keep in mind the interactions between the social and the ecological systems.

Abstract
For sustainable development, this needs to keep in mind the interactions between the social and the ecological systems.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
