The Consorzio Uomini di Massenzatica participated in the selections of the National Landscape Award (2018–2019 edition) established by MIBAC1, with the project: “Between Land And Water, ‘Another Way of Owning’ Agriculture, social enterprise, landscape and sustainability for a continually evolving identity space”. It ranked first in the competition with 138 other candidate projects. As winner of the National Landscape Award it represented Italy at the sixth session of the European Landscape Award, with a special mention identical to the Landscape Award of the Council of Europe, being a source of inspiration for the European governments. It has thus joined the Landscape Award Alliance of the Council of Europe, an initiative created to enhance the best practices implemented by the communities and at the same time to foster the mutual exchange of experiences between the various national and European territories. National and European awards were granted to the Consortium, thanks to its special experience, which was defined as a “source of inspiration” for the Europe Community (EUC Report, 2019) by the Council of Europe itself. This acknowledgement proves the importance of the role played by the Consortium over the past few years for the construction, maintenance and promotion of the landscape values, by safeguarding the natural and social capital in the Ferrara lowlands
