Abstract

In an Energy Management (EM) scenario, photo-voltaic (PV) generation systems could lead to an important cost-saving and "shiftable loads" (e.g., dishwasher, washing machine, cooker hood) play an important role. Among all "shiftable loads", electric boiler has considerable importance since it can be considered as a thermal storage. In this perspective, it is crucial to know the typical usage patterns and the state of charge of this appliance. In this paper, a methodology to identify the electric boiler usage patterns and to estimate its state of charge is presented.
