In the most widespread meaning the term periphery is associated with some characters of disvalue: uprooting place, made by spaces different from those of the city properly meant, territories of nobody (no man’s land) and places of degradation (physical and social). Often, because of its location, a place where city and countryside hybridise in a "rurban" landscape with features that are difficult to understand. Citizens, involved in the various choices, will develop a necessary feeling of belonging, they will feel obliged to protect "their space" and take responsibility for it, as this responds to their physical and psychological needs.

Abstract
In the most widespread meaning the term periphery is associated with some characters of disvalue: uprooting place, made by spaces different from those of the city properly meant, territories of nobody (no man’s land) and places of degradation (physical and social). Often, because of its location, a place where city and countryside hybridise in a "rurban" landscape with features that are difficult to understand. Citizens, involved in the various choices, will develop a necessary feeling of belonging, they will feel obliged to protect "their space" and take responsibility for it, as this responds to their physical and psychological needs.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
