In this contribution we present an accurate modelling of the coupling between a GPS-antenna and a satellite radio antenna. The EM analysis is performed by means of the efficient Transmission Line Matrix-Integral Equation (TLMIE) method which permits to model complex 3D regions embedded in free-space regions. We calculate the return-loss of both the antennas and then their mutual near field coupling. With respect to the mutual EM coupling the characteristics of the complete antenna structure are calculated and used for an optimisation of the main lobe direction. The improvement is shown by experimental results.

Abstract

In this contribution we present an accurate modelling of the coupling between a GPS-antenna and a satellite radio antenna. The EM analysis is performed by means of the efficient Transmission Line Matrix-Integral Equation (TLMIE) method which permits to model complex 3D regions embedded in free-space regions. We calculate the return-loss of both the antennas and then their mutual near field coupling. With respect to the mutual EM coupling the characteristics of the complete antenna structure are calculated and used for an optimisation of the main lobe direction. The improvement is shown by experimental results.
