A laboratory trial was performed to test the sequestration capacity of two minerals (bentonite and zeolite) at two initial concentration (2.5 and 5.0%) against water-soluble nickel (Ni) exceeding legal limit (10 µg L-1) in carbonation lime disposed in a field and sampled for a 35-day lab study. Results show a noticeable reduction of water-soluble and bio-available Ni in lime after the addition of sequestrants, especially for the sample of bentonite at 5.0%. The 35-day experiment seems to be sufficient to reach an adsorption equilibrium for the water-soluble form, while for the bio-available form a longer period seems to be necessary

Abstract
A laboratory trial was performed to test the sequestration capacity of two minerals (bentonite and zeolite) at two initial concentration (2.5 and 5.0%) against water-soluble nickel (Ni) exceeding legal limit (10 µg L-1) in carbonation lime disposed in a field and sampled for a 35-day lab study. Results show a noticeable reduction of water-soluble and bio-available Ni in lime after the addition of sequestrants, especially for the sample of bentonite at 5.0%. The 35-day experiment seems to be sufficient to reach an adsorption equilibrium for the water-soluble form, while for the bio-available form a longer period seems to be necessaryFile in questo prodotto:
