The results of an ambient-vibration based investigation conducted on the “Palazzo del Podestà” in Montelupone (Italy) is presented. The case study was damaged during the 2016 Italian earthquakes that stroke the central part of the Italy. The assessment procedure includes full-scale ambient vibration testing, modal identification from ambient vibration responses, finite element modeling and dynamic-based identification of the uncertain structural parameters of the model. A very good match between theoretical and experimental modal parameters was reached and the model updating has been performed identifying some structural parameters.

Abstract

The results of an ambient-vibration based investigation conducted on the “Palazzo del Podestà” in Montelupone (Italy) is presented. The case study was damaged during the 2016 Italian earthquakes that stroke the central part of the Italy. The assessment procedure includes full-scale ambient vibration testing, modal identification from ambient vibration responses, finite element modeling and dynamic-based identification of the uncertain structural parameters of the model. A very good match between theoretical and experimental modal parameters was reached and the model updating has been performed identifying some structural parameters.
