The dynamical behavior of holographic polymer-liquid crystal grating was investigated. This grating consists of an alternate sequence of homogeneous liquid crystal films and polymer slices. The switching ON dynamics was found to depend on the pulse shape, indicating some kind of memory of the previously applied field. The main observed feature is the presence of two time constants differing one order of magnitude each other. The results indicate that the slower part of the dynamics becomes more effective for longer and more intense applied field.

Abstract
The dynamical behavior of holographic polymer-liquid crystal grating was investigated. This grating consists of an alternate sequence of homogeneous liquid crystal films and polymer slices. The switching ON dynamics was found to depend on the pulse shape, indicating some kind of memory of the previously applied field. The main observed feature is the presence of two time constants differing one order of magnitude each other. The results indicate that the slower part of the dynamics becomes more effective for longer and more intense applied field.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
