Addition of dredged sediments in cementitious mixtures was investigated to be used in vertical and horizontal barriers for sediment confined disposal facilities or for reclaimed near-shore lands. Uncontaminated dredged sediments were added in different contents to typical cement-bentonite mixtures and to a patented cementitious mixture. Excellent hydraulic performance was obtained on all the mixtures (prepared in the laboratory) containing the sediments when permeated with tap water. Column tests performed using sea water as permeant showed that the mixtures can guarantee a good performance in the long term, depending on their components and dosages.
