The analysis performed with Intravascular ultrasound Virtual Histology (VH-IVUS) presents some uncertainty and variability due to the methodology used, for example: error in the position of the section, error in the contour, error due to the fact that VH uses an average on 20-30 frames, the variations due to the analysis carried out by different operators. The effect of these variations on the measurements, not considered in the literature has been considered in this work. The effect can be relevant on the measured parameters and consequently on the predictive accuracy, sensitivity and specificity. A statistical analysis of VH-IVUS measurements has been performed.

Abstract

The analysis performed with Intravascular ultrasound Virtual Histology (VH-IVUS) presents some uncertainty and variability due to the methodology used, for example: error in the position of the section, error in the contour, error due to the fact that VH uses an average on 20-30 frames, the variations due to the analysis carried out by different operators. The effect of these variations on the measurements, not considered in the literature has been considered in this work. The effect can be relevant on the measured parameters and consequently on the predictive accuracy, sensitivity and specificity. A statistical analysis of VH-IVUS measurements has been performed.
