This paper reports on the results of a census on the conservation status of residual woods in the hilly and plain territories of the Marche Region. The main problem, verified through the study activities, is represented by a loss of biodiversity probably due to the cessation of management activities. For this reason specific actions, based on real examples and on description of residual woods features, are proposed to improve forest management.
