Here we present a phytosociological study of the forest vegetation of the Upper valley of the Vomano River, located on the Adriatic side of the central Apennines. The study area belongs to the National Park of Gran Sasso and Monti della Laga and is located in a particular area having a high lithological, geomorphological, lanscape and biological diversity. Ten forest associations were here found, which five are here described for the first time together with twelve new subassociations. The high diversity of the woods, demonstrates the important environmental diversity. �� Societ\`{a} Italiana di Scienza della Vegetazione.
