Investigations of phytophagous insects developing on Colza (Brassica napus var. oleifera) was carried out in Central Italy (Umbria) during the two-year period 2000-2001,. Among the phytophages attacking this crop we found the presence of two species, i.e. the Cabbage Seed Weevil (Ceutorrhynchus assimilis Payk.) and the Brassica Pod Midge (Dasineura brassicae Winn.). The weevil feeds on colza and lays eggs in holes made in the pods by feeding individuals. These holes are also used by the midge females as entry holes for oviposition. The possible control strategy are discussed.
