Multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has a high sensitivity in detecting clinically significant prostate cancer (csPCA). In this retrospective study, we found the association of Prostate Imaging-Reporting and Data System, v2 and transrectal ultrasound-targeted with systematic biopsies in identifying csPCA in the peripheral zone (concordance between magnetic resonance imaging index lesion and the presence of csPCA inside it). The performance in transitional zone was poor (high rate of false-positive lesions or non-clinically significant PCA).

Abstract

Multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has a high sensitivity in detecting clinically significant prostate cancer (csPCA). In this retrospective study, we found the association of Prostate Imaging-Reporting and Data System, v2 and transrectal ultrasound-targeted with systematic biopsies in identifying csPCA in the peripheral zone (concordance between magnetic resonance imaging index lesion and the presence of csPCA inside it). The performance in transitional zone was poor (high rate of false-positive lesions or non-clinically significant PCA).
