In-kind donation management is a complex phenomenon with multifaceted logistic challenges. This paper focuses on organizations that are called to respond to local/regional disaster events. A multiple case-study approach is adopted, and findings are based on the analysis of interviews with local organizations. This paper identifies the critical factors of donation management in the context of local emergencies. Further, the research will contribute to highlight the best practices, the lessons learned, and outline priority areas for improving donation management performance for the future. This paper is also intended to encourage further debate and projects around the mass convergence topic.

Abstract

In-kind donation management is a complex phenomenon with multifaceted logistic challenges. This paper focuses on organizations that are called to respond to local/regional disaster events.
