Evolution and new Challanges of the Mediterranen model Immigration

The traditional regional migrations within the Mediterranean basin have been almost overtaken by the use of North Africa, Turkey, and Balkan countries as transit zones for more globalized migrations. The migrants comes from very far away but the velocity of the modern ways they use shortens the time of the migration itself. That is why there is a so large variety of origin within migrants (as data show). As a result: if migration is experiencing a globalization process can we still talk about a Mediterranean Migration Model? We have already demonstrated that a lot of common features continue to persist, even according to the composition by nationality, which in recent years has been characterised by a massive and increasing presence of Eastern and Central European migrants, in each of the four countries.
